"Forest of Caves"

The enchanting Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is formed of limestone plateaus, tropical forests and Asia's oldest karst mountains; a terrain riddled with labyrinthine caves and underground rivers in the Quảng Bình Province of Vietnam. Steeped in mystery and lore, the lush confines of this national park are studded with intriguing rock formations. The Phong Nha Cave, in particular, is noted for its stalagmites and stalactites, hidden away amid the Ke Bang forest. Sheltered by dense foliage and untamed jungles, the park's cache of over 300 caves and grottoes includes the world's largest cave, Son Doong, and one of its longest subterranean rivers. The park also harbors a vast variety of plant and animal species, many of which are endemic to the region. Largely unspoiled, the wilderness of Phong Nha-Ke Bang is a place of unbridled beauty, bordered by rural vistas dominated by chartreuse fields and quaint hamlets. The park was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003 in recognition of its bountiful natural treasures.
