City of Wonders Bazar

Just up the road from the entrance to Petra, the City of Wonders Bazar sells a variety of local handmade products and artisan works as well as a variety of traditional souvenirs that can be found in most stores around Petra. Owned and run by Mohammad al Hassnat, his welcoming and at times overwhelming personality give the store a personal touch not found in all stores in the area. As with most other souvenir shops, there are glass bottles filled with sand from Petra with amazing designs of camels and other desert scenes. The owner claims to make all the designs himself, and states that the larger bottles take around 2 hours to complete. Rugs, artwork, and jewelry round out the store's offerings.
