Petra Kitchen

Get ready to bring something new to your kitchen. Petra Kitchen offers a unique opportunity to learn about one of the most important parts of a nation, the cuisine. So besides just photos of the fabulous ruins in Petra, you can also bring home the ability to make delicious Middle Eastern food. At Petra Kitchen, participants are under supervision as they learn to cook typical Jordanian food. The menu of what is cooked does change from time to time but signs are posted outside the doors, so simply swing by earlier in the day to make sure that the menu is acceptable. The meal includes soups, salads, and a main course, and all the drinks (non-alcoholic) that you want. The friendly atmosphere and top quality facilities make this an interesting way to learn about the culture. All the recipes are written down and can be taken home, so that you can bring the best of Jordan back to your friends and family. The cost is JOD 30.

Red Cave Restaurant

Like most of the restaurants in Wadi Musa, the Red Cave Restaurant caters to the tourist crowd. There is pleasant outdoor seating on a front porch area, or if you prefer the full, more cave-like experience, you can head indoors to eat your meal there. Much of the food is either true Jordanian or Bedouin in style. So of course, there will be lots of yogurt. The waiters will have no trouble recommending dishes, including Mansafe and Sawani.

Al-Arabi

Located on the Shaheed roundabout, this friendly restaurant is a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. With two floors (one outdoors and one indoors), and an extensive menu of typical Jordanian food, it is the perfect spot to grab a relaxed bite to eat. English menus as well as English speaking waiters are available, and the prices are around JD 2 for a typical plate of food. Juices such as mango-strawberry and strawberry-banana are made with fresh fruits and the fries are crispy and hot. The shwerma comes highly recommended as does the hamburger, but vegetarians will find options such as hummus and falafel as well. Like many places in the area, no credit cards are accepted.

Doshara Restaurant

This restaurant consists of a large and airy room with long tables just right for big groups, although this atmosphere can make it feel a little bit cafeteria at times. The buffet-style dining serves mostly typical Middle Eastern food, so be prepared for hummus, cucumbers, yogurt, and tomatoes aplenty! The staff is very welcoming and will make every effort to accommodate your needs.

Basin Restaurant

Located about 2 km (1 mile) inside the gates of Petra, the Basin Restaurant by the Crowne Plaza Petra stands amongst all the splendor of Petra. Already quite a trek to get to the restaurant, this is a great place to stop and rest your tired feet. There are very few places to eat once inside Petra, in fact, most visitors buy snack food off the local Bedouins. Luckily, the Basin Restaurant provides a more hearty meal to ensure that you are ready to keep exploring this wonderful city!

Mystic Pizza

There is not too much that is actually mystic about this pizza, it is just good, old-fashioned pizza you can find anywhere. While the toppings remain fairly standard, for those that don't want to waste even one meal not eating typical Middle Eastern food, there are also other cuisines on offer. Shawarma, falafel, and different types of barbecue are available. Near the entrance to Petra, this is a great place to relax and get some food after a tiring day of touring one of the world's most interesting sites.
