Established in 1967, Museum of the Riverina has two sites that are distinct from the other. The Council Chambers is set in the historic town hall from 1881. Rotating exhibits on themed programs are showcased at this repository. The Botanic Gardens on Lord Baden Powell Drive houses their permanent displays, giving an insight into the city's history and culture. It also features the Sporting Hall of Fame, kid zone and farm machinery.
Situated in the heart of the city, the art gallery offers an exclusive space for exhibiting various forms of contemporary art. The gallery was designed by architect Garner Davis and has seven exhibition areas, the popular ones being one dedicated to the National Art Glass Collection which is home to over 500 pieces of fine selection of contemporary art glass. Other notable works can be found in the space dedicated to Margaret Carnegie Print Collection which is home to over 1200 work of original art from popular artists from Australia. It is a wonderful place for art lovers to discover different forms of contemporary art. The gallery hosts events, exhibitions, educational and public programs. Entry to the gallery is free.
The Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre, located on the edge of the Wollundry Lagoon, plays host to several cultural events. With an auditorium that has the capacity to hold up to 488 people, a terrace overlooking the lagoon, a bar, and state-of-the-art sound and light equipment, no wonder this venue is frequented by National as well as International theater shows that are on tour.
