Classified as a geotope, the Scheidegger waterfalls make for a fascinating attraction owing to its scenic location between Lake Constance and towering mountains. Located along the iconic German Alpine Road, these waterfalls nudge the Germany-Austria border, and are a popular pitstop for roadtrippers along this route. The waterfall flows over several craggy rocks and steps, turning into a beautiful cascade that cannot be missed. There are viewing platforms to take in the panoramic sight. Â
Built during the 17th Century, the castle of Achberg is an architectural wonder of the namesake town. Perched atop a ridge, the castle overlooks the glistening Lake Constance. The facade of the fortified castle is barely a giveaway for the intricate Baroque interiors. Today, the castle is a socio-cultural symbol and the Knight's Hall is used as a venue for numerous classical concerts. Guided tours of the castle are the best way to explore its history and architectural beauty.
An exhibition here is dedicated to the work of the wood-carver Rudolf Wachter (born 1923).
