What better way to celebrate the seasonal wind patterns of the windy city than with a wind turbine? Erected in 1993 to test the feasibility of wind-generated power in the city, the original turbine halted operations in 2010. Its modern replacement now supplies power to 490 homes and has also rapidly become a local icon. Walks lead up to the turbine, and once there, visitors can soak in spectacular views of the city. Visible from many parts of the city, the turbine is considered a local landmark.
