Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant

Established in 1994, the Iron Hill brewery at Wilmington was one of the first to open in the series of this award-winning brewery restaurant chain. Beer enthusiasts need no introduction to their stellar array of handcrafted beers that have stood against some of the best in the region. From Belgian Ales to Lagers, each of their brews has a distinct flavor that is bound to please most tastes. Though beer is admittedly in focus here, the food to go with your brews is surprisingly well thought-of. Columbus Inn

With mentions dating back to the 18th Century, the space housing the Columbus Inn has a rich history. And with it's restoration and reopening in 2010, the owners have succeeded at not only updating it to a modern establishment that holds relevance today, but also bringing some of its glory back. A lesson in history, however, is not a requisite to having a good time at the Columbus Inn. On offer is a superb selection of contemporary American fare that changes with the seasons and a drinks list that shuffles flawlessly between the old world and new. The Blue Crab Grill

Located a little away from the Newark's city center, The Blue Crab Grill is a tempting affair for seafood lovers with a varied menu of specialties from the sea. The first of the two acclaimed McGlynns to open in Newark, the pub sits at the site of the historic Drummond Ale House and has seen the changing face of the city since its inception in 1983. On offer is a stunning array of beers (about 50) and other spirits to keep things flowing and an above average menu of American favorites that is hard to resist. McGlynns Pub

A quintessential public house, McGlynns was first established in 1983 within the Polly Drummond shopping center. It's popularity has grown manifold since and has resulted in two more locations. McGlynns' second location stands within the Peoples Plaza and like the original location, boasts of a fairly large area. The stuff on offer essentially remains the same; an excellent beer selection and hearty American food to go with it. There's close to 50 varieties of beer on offer including the signature Taylors Grog brewed specially for this and a handful of more pubs. There's a good selection of wine and other spirits as well. The food menu is surprisingly diverse for a pub and features everything from the usual pub grub to hearty lunch specials and elaborate preparations. There's a small selection of kids specialties as well. An array of television screens throughout the pub ensures large crowds on game days. There are good facilities for holding private functions as well.
