The Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve is a spectacular green lung amid the city. The park can be traversed by designated trails that are dotted with beautiful ponds, allowing visitors to spot numerous bird species.
Cedar Creek Battlefield, also known as the Battle of Belle Grove, is a place that brings to life the history of Shenandoah Valley. The Cedar Creek Battlefield marks the location of that infamous 1864 campaign which was a crushing defeat of the Confederates and their last attempt to invade the Union during the Civil War. The Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation made considerable efforts to erect a memorial on the location to commemorate the history of the battle and bought all the surrounding land including the visitor center. Every year the foundation sponsors a re-enactment of the battle which is a huge draw for Civil War enthusiasts.
Marker Miller Orchards Farm Market and Bakery is a must visit when you're in Winchester. This beautiful orchard comprises 325 acres of apples and about 15 acres of peach plantations. Plums, pears, apricots and raspberries are seasonally grown and during certain seasons you can Pick-Your-Own fruit. Children will love the playground, the wagon rides, and more! The bakery at the farm is a delight for people with a sweet tooth. Different parts of this 37000 acres of the park boundary are still privately owned and are managed and run by different collaborations. It also has the plantation house on its grounds. The formation is essentially a massive pile of Harpers shale that was formed due to the powerful movements of the riverbeds through the ages. The uppermost slab of the formation was stabilized in the 1850s after four rocks were placed under it. Today, visitors can marvel at this wonderful formation, take pictures of it for keepsakes, and explore the surrounding riverside region of Harpers Ferry.
Located off Kearneysville Pike road in Shepherdstown, Morgan's Grove Park is spread across an area of 20 acres (8 hectares). This spacious park features soccer fields, horseshoe pits, a playground for children, walking trails, pavilions, well-equipped picnic areas, restrooms and a lot more. This park is owned and managed by the Shepherdstown Community Club. A number of events and gatherings are hosted here every year. Some of the events held here include the annual Panhandle's Earth Day celebrations and various soccer leagues.

Great Country Farms, overlooking the Loudoun valley produces ten varietals of grapes to produce its fine wines and spirits that are offered in the tasting room at the winery. A tour of the vineyard and the winery can be followed by a leisurely meal at the restaurant or a relaxing drink in the tasting room. The views from the patio are breathtaking. The vineyard is a popular venue for weddings.
