The Stevens Center is a beautifully renovated neoclassical theatre situated in downtown Winston-Salem. It was donated in 1980 to the School of the Arts as a performing arts facility in 1983. The Stevens Center is today identified as a primary performance venue of the university where various student, faculty and guest artist performances are held. This Center also forms a venue for many local arts organizations, including Piedmont Opera Theatre, the Winston-Salem Symphony, and the National Black Theatre Festival.
