Schloss Veitschöchheim is located about 14 kilometers (8 miles) from the city of Würzburg and is a wonderful attraction to visit with family as well as friends. The palace was built as a summer home for the prince-bishop of the city between 1680 through 1682. The palace was used by the royal family in the 19th Century and has undergone a series of restorations since then, before it was finally opened to the public. The gardens that surround the palace are equally beautiful and perfect place where kids can play during your visit. This Baroque palace is definitely worth a visit when in Würzburg for its magnificence and fantastic architecture. Boat rides over the River Main come highly recommended if planning to visit the castle.
