Enmei-ji Temple

"Founded by a Regent's Wife"

Among this city's very old, but small temples is Enmei-ji which was established around 1260 by the wife of the fifth Kamakura regent. The temple was formed under the Jodo sect of Buddhism. The notorious, unclothed Hadaka Jizo statue is found here—although it is only on view three times per month. If you wish to see this interesting statue, call to find out which days it is on view.
