Kakuon-ji Temple

"Treasure House of Statues"

This is a somber and secluded temple nestled amidst a lovely forest. Yoshitoki Hojo built a prayer hall here in 1218. The treasure house (Buddha Hall with a thatched roof) contains cultural assets comprising large and impressive statues of Gakko Bosatsu and Nikko on either side of the image of the Yakushi Nyorai (associated with both longevity and healing). Photography is forbidden here. Timings vary according to weather conditions.
