Not known as one of the "hip" neighborhoods of Tokyo, Sendagi is more about the locals than it is glitz and glamor. However, this is where Akira is found amongst regular people who pop out for a good bite to eat casually dressed with no fuss or muss who just want a good meal. That is what Akira offers. With a seated counter service for about 10, the concept is simply tasty. Set meals include tempura, sashimi and a fish of the day with some rice, soup and pickles to taste. Dinner can be ordered a la carte, and there is room upstairs for small groups. Akira knows what it is doing having been around since the Taisho period (roughly 1912-1926). Now it is time for you to find out! -Stephen Lebovits

Located in the residential bluff area of Yamate, the restaurant looks like a Victorian-Meiji house. The glassware is etched with the gaslight symbol of Yokohama, as are the royal blue and white serving plates. The view overlooks the Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery and Minato Mirai. Glimpses of Mount Fuji, while not frequent, are spectacular. The ground level is a tea and coffee lounge, while the second floor is an excellent French restaurant, popular since it opened in 1967.
Le Temps Perdu is Belgian-style bar in Yokohama's "blue-collar paradise," the Noge district. Le Temps Perdu has "a hole in the wall" look to it, but appearances can be deceiving. Don't be fooled, Belgian Bar Le Temps Perdu is a happening place that offers Flemish beer, some snack food, and live jazz.
