Operated for the National Park Service by the Yosemite Conservancy, this 25-bunk lodge at an elevation of 8,500 feet is open and staffed during the winter only. Travel to the
hut by overland vehicles is prohibited. You must cross-country ski or snowshoe in, approximately 10 miles. This trip is not for amateurs. You will need experience and strength and should have knowledge of alpine conditions. The lodge is very popular and you will probably need reservations. In fact, there is sometimes a drawing. Although reservations can be hard to get, there are often midweek cancellations.
