Quarry Beach is located between Fort McDowell (East Garrison)and the Nike Missile Base SF-91. Yet another highlight of Angel Island State Park, this beach is a perfect spot for some quiet contemplation after touring all of the historic attractions of the island. Bestowed with soft white sand and shrub-covered hills, the beach delights you with vistas of the bay.
Site of an erstwhile lighthouse, Point Blunt is located on the southern most tip of Angel Island. The humble lighthouse is now replaced by an automated light.
Located on the southern coast of Angel Island, Sand Springs is a beautiful beach. The beach delights you with its soft white sands, deep blue waters of the bay, and on clear days it's also a great vantage point to observe San Francisco's skyline.
Summit of Mt. Livermore marks the topmost point of Angel Island. Towering over 700 feet (213 meter) above the bay, the summit is a popular destination among hikers. Though a bit challenging, the trail rewards you with awe-inspiring views from atop the summit. You can soak in a 360 degree view of the entire San Francisco bay from up here.
Nike Missile Base SF-91 was used as the site for one of the Nike Project's Integrated Fire Control missiles, SF-91. Radar pads that were used then, can still be observed around the base. When compared with the nearby Battery Drew, Nike Missile Base SF-91 provides a stark account of the evolution of weaponry that was used at Angel Island.
The Vista Point at Thornton State Beach is a place where you can see some breathtaking views of the beach and the ocean. It is a spot to spend some quality time with your loved ones and make amazing memories with them.
