"First There Was a River..."
Zürich's centre nestles neatly around the many bridges that span the Limmat near where it enters Lake Zürich. The river has always been of great importance to the city for trade and commerce, but today it functions more as a pulsing vein for relaxation and as an aide for navigation. From April through October you can cruise down the Limmat in a long flat boat with a glass roof and see the city from a truly different perspective. They start running at 10a and depart every half hour from behind the National Museum. Don't worry, the boats just manage to pass under the low bridges!
