Walibi Holland, purchased by a Belgian conglomerate and built on the site of a modest, agriculture-themed park in the mid 90s, is the Netherlands' most famous amusement park. More sleek and modern in its design and amenities than many of the more stately old fun parks in Europe that grew out of 19th-century pleasure gardens or fairgrounds, Walibi Holland is more akin to an American roller-coaster park in feel than many of its competitors in neighboring countries. It features such attractions as Goliath, largest roller-coaster in the Benelux countries, kids' rides like go-karts and the mini taxis and several water rides for the summer months. The grounds of Walibi Holland are also the site of the renowned Lowlands Festival, the largest and most famous music fest in Holland, held each year in August.
